History

The Sisters of the Child Jesus are a diocesan congregation founded in Chilubula, in the Archdiocese of Kasama. The congregation was officially founded in 1926 to serve the poor people of Northern Province by Bishop Étienne Larue, a Missionary of Africa and Vicar Apostolic of Bangweulu.

Our story began in 1918, when a young catechumen named Theresa Ngosa Nshindano expressed her desire to become a priest. By 1920, she had been joined by three other girls, marking the beginning of the early group that later developed into the congregation of the Servants of the Infant Jesus as it was initially called.
